visiting Lime Out on St. John USVI

Unless you don’t use social media and/or haven’t done any research about visiting the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely heard of and seen plenty of pictures and videos of Lime Out, the floating taco bar off the island of St. John. It’s hard to miss all of their amazing viral videos. Nothing snags your attention like seeing people hanging out on floating couches being served up delicious tacos in the middle of a bay in the Caribbean. You see it, and you instantly start dreaming of being there. Admit it: It happened to you, too. ;)

So if you’ve got a trip planned to the USVI and are wondering if you should add a trip to Lime Out to your itinerary (short answer: definitely yes), then here’s everything you need to know.

What & Where Is Lime Out?

Lime Out is a floating taco bar anchored in Coral Bay Harbor on the east end of St. John, USVI. It’s accessible only by boat. It opened in March 2019 by the same people who own Lime Inn in Cruz Bay and quickly grew in popularity amongst boaters and tourists alike. The pontoon structure is surrounded by a swim-up bar and floating couches for lounging and eating tacos in the sunshine.

What they Serve

At Lime Out, you can find a range of creative cocktails & tacos, as well as their delicious hibiscus sun tea. These aren’t your average tacos—they feature sumptuous, locally-inspired flavor combos that you won’t find elsewhere like jerk chicken tacos with a passion fruit mango lime sauce and pulled pork tacos in a Cruzan dark rum barbecue sauce. How to Get There

As we mentioned, Lime Out is only accessible by boat, so most people typically go via day charter boat or rented Zodiac (you can find both options to reserve here). However, the newest option is now…drumroll…via kayak with us! You can check out the full details of our Coral Bay Kayak, Turtles, and Tacos Tour here, but in a nutshell, you get to combine a trip to Lime Out with some time exploring the nature of Coral Bay’s calm waters. We anticipate this becoming one of our most popular tours this season, so do be sure to reserve your spots in advance.

Here’s What We Love About Lime Out
