Do you have an upcoming destination wedding planned on St. John? If you’re wondering how to keep your guests entertained as a group while on-island, we’ve got you covered!

While arranging activities for a group of any size can present some logistical challenges, the following activities work well for a variety of age groups and can be coordinated with our team to ensure everyone has a blast.

1. Honeymoon Beach All Access Beach Day w/ Private Cabana + Lunch at Bikinis on the Beach

A trip to St. John isn’t complete without a stress free, full day at the beach. But planning on spending hours on a beach with a group can be tricky to make sure everyone’s needs are met throughout the day. Enter: Honeymoon Beach.

Our All Access DayPass gives each beachgoer all day access to lounge chairs, snorkel gear, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, floats, and lockers on one of St. John’s most beautiful beaches.

For groups, we highly recommend reserving your own private cabana(s). Our private cabanas are 20ft x 20ft tents and are ideal for groups, as they provide both shade and your own retreat space right in front of the water. Each cabana features a table that can seat 8 people, 3 couches, and a luxury hammock. Our cabanas also come with beach attendant service.

When everyone’s hungry, Bikinis on the Beach Bar & Grill is steps from the shore and serves up island-style tacos, ice cold cocktails, and more.

On Honeymoon Beach, there’s something for everyone no matter how they’d like to spend their day – limin’ in the sunshine, chillin’ in the shade, exploring the shoreline, or swimming with the fishes!

2. Kayak + Snorkel with Sea Turtles

Here’s an island fact: sea turtles make everyone happy. They are one of the most memorable parts of St. John for anyone who has had the good fortune to see them firsthand. Giving your wedding group the opportunity to experience the magic of swimming alongside a sea turtle will take their vacation from good to ahhhhmazing.

On our Kayak & Snorkel with Sea Turtles Tour, you’ll depart from Honeymoon Beach and kayak across Caneel Bay to deserted Scott Beach. This stunning cove is a popular refuge for several species of sea turtles who love to graze on the sea grass. You’re also likely to see many other incredible sea creatures here such as stingrays, spotted eagle rays, and sometimes even dolphins!

3. Charter a Boat and Explore the Waters of the US Virgin Islands

Spend a full day, or half day, out cruising over the crystal clear waters of the USVI. A charter with New Moon Charters is an unforgettable way to see the Virgin Islands from a different perspective. When chartering a boat, you get to decide what you’d like to do. You’ll collaborate with your captain about which spots to hit up that will be best for your group from world class snorkel stops, iconic beach bars, and more.

One simply should not visit the Virgin Islands without spending a day on the water. And for groups, selecting a charter that allows you the ability to customize your trip is definitely the way to go!

Stand-up paddle boards (aka SUP boards) have quickly become one of the most popular pieces of water sports equipment in the USVI. They’re a ton of fun and feel like snorkeling from above; the waters here are so clear that you can truly see down below 40+ft without even getting your head wet!

You can rent your own for your group by the hour, by the day, or by the week. Renting your own SUP boards gives your group the freedom to adventure out on the water whenever they desire.

While first-timers sometimes get intimidated just looking at the boards and trying to picture themselves actually standing up on them, they can rest easy. SUP boards can also be used while seated or sitting, and they also make great floats to use out on the water when exploring various coves and beaches across the island.

5. Take a Sunset Cruise to the Famous Floating Pizza Boat

You may have seen the boat, Pizza Pi, which serves up freshly-baked pies straight out of the custom oven on their sailboat on a travel show or in a magazine article. This boat/bar/pizzeria is famous for a reason – it’s located in one of the USVI’s prettiest bays and they make crave-able pizzas On. A. Boat.

Your Pizza Pi Sunset Cruise with Reef Surfari will take your group to Christmas Cove to pick up craft pizzas from Pizza Pi, then you’ll cruise around with cocktails as you soak up the sun setting over the water. You’ll likely find each sunset you see on St. John to be awesome, but the one you enjoy with a side of pizza on a boat? That one may just be your favorite.

If you’ve been to St. John in the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely encountered the wild donkeys around the island. Whether they approached you on the beach, strolled up to your Jeep’s window, or clip-clopped alongside you while shopping in Mongoose Junction, you were likely charmed by the presence of such a surprising farm animal on our little island. Because we’ve been posting a bunch of fun donkey videos lately over on our Facebook and Instagram accounts (if you’re not already following us, be sure to go and join in on the fun!), we thought we’d share a few fun details about the island’s donkey population.

The US Virgin Islands are a great place for both beginner and experienced snorkelers. The waters tend to be calm, clear, and warm year round, and there are many places where you can see an abundance of reef and marine life in relatively shallow waters. We love helping visitors experience the magic of the underwater world, and we have guided snorkeling tours and snorkel gear rentals available on all three islands: St. Thomas , St. John , and St. Croix . In order to best appreciate our waters and have a wonderful time while you’re “under the sea,” here are a few USVI snorkeling safety tips to keep in mind:

Here’s a hot take I have for the US Virgin Islands: Everyone should take a guided snorkel tour at least a couple of times, no matter how many times they’ve been snorkeling here before. I know, I know… you’ve already snorkeled here. Why would going with a guide change anything when you already know how to snorkel? Why do you need someone to accompany you when you already have a fish identification card and rented snorkel gear so you can go by yourself?

Unless you don’t use social media and/or haven’t done any research about visiting the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely heard of and seen plenty of pictures and videos of Lime Out , the floating taco bar off the island of St. John. It’s hard to miss all of their amazing viral videos. Nothing snags your attention like seeing people hanging out on floating couches being served up delicious tacos in the middle of a bay in the Caribbean. You see it, and you instantly start dreaming of being there. Admit it: It happened to you, too. ;) So if you’ve got a trip planned to the USVI and are wondering if you should add a trip to Lime Out to your itinerary (short answer: definitely yes ), then here’s everything you need to know.
