Often times, when people think about booking a boat day during their vacation on St. Thomas or St. John, the first thing that comes to mind is exploring the islands of the neighboring BVI. And while the British Virgin Islands DO have some incredible boat day stops to visit, it’s not always the best option for all groups. Whether there are people in your group without passports (they are required for entry into the BVI), or if you simply don’t have the time or desire to clear in and out of Customs & Immigration on your boat day, you still have options.

In recent years, the USVI boating scene has gotten even more exciting. Here are just a few iconic spots that you can stop at during your boat day in the US Virgin Islands – no passport required!

This floating pizza bar is located in the protected bay of Christmas Cove – the perfect spot for a snorkel stop followed by a slice of the most delicious pizza you’ll have in the Virgin Islands. Pro tip: the Mad Mushroom is our fav.

A floating taco bar – need we say more? This relatively new addition to the St. John scene is only accessible by boat and an excellent stop for floating and limin’ in the crystal clear waters. Taco Tuesday never looked this cool.

Water Island is a must-see in the USVI – it’s a small, residential island with a community you’ll wish you were a part of. Grab some food and drinks with your toes in the sand and enjoy their abundant beach amenities.

Want more of a private island resort experience? Then Lovango Beach Club is your spot! Between the great food and drinks, water views extending from the infinity pool, and tunes, the vibe is right for the lux pool day you’ve been dreaming of.

These are just a few of the great boating day stops accessible within the US Virgin Islands. There are plenty of other cute beach bars, restaurants, snorkel spots, and dive sites to check out. If you want to stay in the US and not bring your passport out boating, you will absolutely have an incredible experience within the waters of America’s Paradise.

The north shore of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is one of those rare places that manages to feel both untouched and well-known. Stretching along the island’s Caribbean-facing coastline, this region is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world—and it’s easy to see why. You can’t visit St. John without spending time on it. In fact, it’s probably the most popular reason why people visit St. John. ( Who among us hasn’t been lured into STJ dreaming by one of those iconic photos of Trunk Bay? ) However, there is so much to see and experience along the north shore. You likely will not be able to do it all on your first trip here. Here’s what to know about the north shore of St. John:

If you’ve been to St. John in the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely encountered the wild donkeys around the island. Whether they approached you on the beach, strolled up to your Jeep’s window, or clip-clopped alongside you while shopping in Mongoose Junction, you were likely charmed by the presence of such a surprising farm animal on our little island. Because we’ve been posting a bunch of fun donkey videos lately over on our Facebook and Instagram accounts (if you’re not already following us, be sure to go and join in on the fun!), we thought we’d share a few fun details about the island’s donkey population.
