Living That Cabana Life on St. John

If there’s one surefire way you can tell that someone has a connection to the USVI, it’s by the appearance of a hook bracelet on their wrist.

Have you noticed these before? They come in a variety of designs, but the main feature amongst them all is a hook clasp that can be worn either turned upwards on your arm, or downwards. They are a unisex accessory, donned in equal frequency by both women and men.

The Caribbean hook bracelet is also known as a “love” bracelet, and they are worn to non-verbally indicate your relationship status. If you wear the hook pointing towards your heart, it symbolizes that your heart is taken, whereas if you wear yours pointing outwards, it indicates that you are available. As legend has it, wives of sailors would wear bracelets made from fishing hooks while their husbands were at sea, to show that their hearts were taken.

Honeymoon Beach recently got a major upgrade. Are you ready to take your Virgin Islands beach day to the next level?

We are proud to feature two private beach cabanas, available for rental now. Our cabanas are the ultimate St. John beach day experience, allowing you to relax in comfort with your uninterrupted panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea.

The spacious, decked out cabanas are located on the white sands of Honeymoon Beach, providing you with all day shade from the sun. Each oversized tent is 20ft x 20ft and includes:

  • a table that can seat up to eight people, so you can dine in privacy
  • three couches for lounging
  • a breezy hammock

The private cabanas also come with beach attendant service, so you can have your food, drinks, and anything else you need delivered to you while you soak up the sights.

The cabana rental can be combined with our popular Day Pass which includes:

  • Kayaks
  • Stand-up paddle boards,
  • Snorkel Gear
  • Floats
  • Lounge chairs
  • Lockers
  • Changing rooms
  • Bathrooms

When you purchase Day Passes with your cabana rental, your beach attendant will set up your lounge chairs for sunbathing, water sports gear, and floats on the beach in front of your cabana for you.

The cabanas are especially popular with groups of four or more, and those with children, looking for added shade and comfort, as well as some private space of their own for a full day on the beach.

The cabanas are already in high demand and quickly sell out, particularly on weekend days. If you have an upcoming trip to St. John planned, or are on island and have an upcoming celebration that you’re organizing, we recommend that you reserve your cabana in advance. You can reserve yours online, or by giving us a call at 1-877-959-2687.

The US Virgin Islands are a great place for both beginner and experienced snorkelers. The waters tend to be calm, clear, and warm year round, and there are many places where you can see an abundance of reef and marine life in relatively shallow waters. We love helping visitors experience the magic of the underwater world, and we have guided snorkeling tours and snorkel gear rentals available on all three islands: St. Thomas , St. John , and St. Croix . In order to best appreciate our waters and have a wonderful time while you’re “under the sea,” here are a few USVI snorkeling safety tips to keep in mind:

Here’s a hot take I have for the US Virgin Islands: Everyone should take a guided snorkel tour at least a couple of times, no matter how many times they’ve been snorkeling here before. I know, I know… you’ve already snorkeled here. Why would going with a guide change anything when you already know how to snorkel? Why do you need someone to accompany you when you already have a fish identification card and rented snorkel gear so you can go by yourself?

Unless you don’t use social media and/or haven’t done any research about visiting the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely heard of and seen plenty of pictures and videos of Lime Out , the floating taco bar off the island of St. John. It’s hard to miss all of their amazing viral videos. Nothing snags your attention like seeing people hanging out on floating couches being served up delicious tacos in the middle of a bay in the Caribbean. You see it, and you instantly start dreaming of being there. Admit it: It happened to you, too. ;) So if you’ve got a trip planned to the USVI and are wondering if you should add a trip to Lime Out to your itinerary (short answer: definitely yes ), then here’s everything you need to know.
