The Perfect USVI Boating Day for Foodies

The US Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John are an amazing retreat for foodies. If you love to indulge on vacation and try things you can’t get at home, then this is the place for you! While you will find plenty of incredible eateries on shore, it is extra fun (and extra delicious) to explore your foodie options from the water. After all, this destination is all about those Caribbean blues.

We have an array of boating options on our website that will help you access all of the spots mentioned below and more. While we’re just covering USVI bites today, the powerboat charters linked in this post can also take you to the neighboring British Virgin Islands to continue your foodie ventures.

The Boat Options:

If you are comfortable navigating the VI waters and love a luxuriously sporty ride, we recommend renting a Zodiac for the day.

If you aren’t as comfortable captaining – and especially if you plan on imbibing some of the VI’s best cocktails – then we recommend that you charter a powerboat for the day. All of the charters on our website come with a licensed captain, so you can relax and enjoy the ride sans responsibility.

The Food Stops:

Pizza Pi VI is a floating pizzeria located in the crystal clear bay of Christmas Cove (which is also a favorite snorkel spot!). The pizza here is *chef’s kiss* delish and made fresh right on the boat. We recommend the Truffle Funghi pizza – it’s decadent flavors make for a satisfying post-snorkel snack.

Lime Out VI is a floating taco bar located off Coral Bay, St. John. If they happen to be running a taco special for the day, do yourself a favor and TRY IT. The chef is incredibly creative and a genius with flavors. The Curried Chicken Taco is Caribbean inspired and is extra tasty with a St. John Brewers Summer Ale.

Dinghys Beach Bar is located on a white sand beach on Water Island. This quaint beach bar is a great spot to pull up and hang for the day. Their restaurant and bar are always hopping, serving up the perfect beach day bites. Their conch fritters are so good to grab n’ go, or to snack on while you float in the shallows.

Lovango Beach Club is the ultimate luxury cabana day, if you’re in the mood to live it up, full service. Their casual waterfront eatery, The Sand Pit, features elevated island dishes with a view. Don’t miss the lobster guacamole!

These are just a few of the countless foodie establishments that call the USVI home. Rent a Zodiac or charter a boat, get exploring, and let us know which one is your favorite!

The north shore of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is one of those rare places that manages to feel both untouched and well-known. Stretching along the island’s Caribbean-facing coastline, this region is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world—and it’s easy to see why. You can’t visit St. John without spending time on it. In fact, it’s probably the most popular reason why people visit St. John. ( Who among us hasn’t been lured into STJ dreaming by one of those iconic photos of Trunk Bay? ) However, there is so much to see and experience along the north shore. You likely will not be able to do it all on your first trip here. Here’s what to know about the north shore of St. John:

If you’ve been to St. John in the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely encountered the wild donkeys around the island. Whether they approached you on the beach, strolled up to your Jeep’s window, or clip-clopped alongside you while shopping in Mongoose Junction, you were likely charmed by the presence of such a surprising farm animal on our little island. Because we’ve been posting a bunch of fun donkey videos lately over on our Facebook and Instagram accounts (if you’re not already following us, be sure to go and join in on the fun!), we thought we’d share a few fun details about the island’s donkey population.
