Going Green on St. John at Concordia Eco Resort

St. John’s natural beauty is worth celebrating – and protecting. As a visitor to the islands, we appreciate any steps you take to help reduce your waste and leave a smaller vacation footprint. One amazing way to go green on your Virgin Islands holiday is to choose eco-minded accommodations. Our current eco crush? Meet Concordia Eco Resort.

Located out past Coral Bay, near Salt Pond Beach, Concordia Resort has been revitalized and has recently reopened for bookings. The resort will continue the authentic St. John “nature haven” legacy of the original owners by embracing the natural elements of the island in everything they do. Think: Solar-powered water in the showers, composting toilets, a reverse osmosis water plant + cisterns to collect rain water, and more. Their plan is to fully convert to solar power for the entire resort and eventually operate completely off the grid.

Currently, Concordia has the following newly renovated accommodations available:


  •   8 villas (with A/C)
  •   23 eco tents (without A/C but positioned to take advantage of the incredible sea breeze)
A bedroom with a canopy bed and a couch

As their mindful renovations continue, there are plans for 7 more tents to be added soon, as well as a restaurant featuring health-inspired cuisine.


Concordia’s eco tourism vibe is perfect for couples, groups, yoga retreats, marine college students, and families.

We particularly love this resort’s location for its proximity to some of St. John’s best hiking and snorkeling spots: Ram’s Head, Salt Pond, and Drunk Bay are must-see excursions for active visitors to the island.
