Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect on the Sunset Kayak Tour Golden Hour Paddle?
Begin with a quick orientation on Cruz Bay Beach, then paddle stable tandem sit-on-top kayaks along St. John’s calm western shoreline. Your CPR-certified local guide will set an easy pace and point out photo spots as the sky shifts into golden hour.
Where do we meet and how long is the tour?
Check in at the Cruz Bay beach kayak launch, adjacent to the passenger ferry dock. The full experience is about 1.5 hours, including a brief on-beach demo and roughly 80 minutes on the water.
Is this beginner friendly and a good fit for families?
Yes. Tandem sit-on-top kayaks, clear instruction, and a relaxed route make this ideal for first-timers and multi-generational groups.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear swimwear or quick-dry clothing with water shoes or sandals. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and water; we provide a large dry bag for your belongings. Stop by our Virgin Islands Ecotours shop at Mongoose Junction if you'd like to buy a dry bag for your phone.
Will we see wildlife or a guaranteed sunset?
Dusk often brings pelicans, sea turtles, fisher bats, and schooling fish, but sightings vary. Sunset colors depend on weather; golden hour frequently delivers soft pastel light and reflective water.
Do I need to swim or get in the water?
No. This tour is a seated paddle in calm coastal water and you remain in your kayak throughout; personal flotation devices are provided and required.
Are there age, weight, or mobility restrictions?
Minimum age is 7 and children ride with an adult in a tandem kayak. The combined weight limit is 500 lbs per tandem, and launching from the beach means guests should be comfortable sitting low and entering from shore.
What is included and what is not?
Included items are tandem kayak, paddles, personal flotation device, large dry bag, and a CPR-certified local guide. Transportation, gratuities, drinks, and optional photo packages are not included unless arranged separately.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your booking is fully refundable if canceled at least 24 hours before your tour.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour start time or no-shows are non-refundable.
