The water is super calm and the staff was friendly with showing us where the best snorkel spots were.

Snorkeling was a bunch of fun. We saw sea urchins, conch, jellyfish, barracuda, and many other fish.
Is this a guided tour?
No. This is an equipment rental. There is no guide and no fixed schedule. You pick up the gear, transport it, and explore Hurricane Hole on your own. Tours are no longer permitted in Hurricane Hole; only rentals are allowed.
How do I get the equipment?
You pick it up at our shop in Mongoose Junction, Cruz Bay. We fit it to your vehicle with foam rooftop carriers and straps and give you a quick orientation before you head out.
Do I need a vehicle?
Yes. You transport the gear to and from Hurricane Hole yourself, so you'll need your own vehicle or a rental. We recommend no more than two paddleboards per vehicle.
When do I pick up and return the gear?
We coordinate that with you directly, either the afternoon before your rental or the morning of, whichever is easier for you.
Where can I paddle and snorkel?
Hurricane Hole is one of the most protected marine areas on St. John, inside the Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument. You'll find calm bays, mangrove-lined shorelines, and shallow reefs full of tropical fish, sea anemones, and the occasional sea turtle or ray.
Is this a good option on windy days?
Yes. Hurricane Hole stays calm and protected when many other coastal areas are too windy to paddle.
